This will give me plenty of time to get the pictures edited and returned to you in time for Valentine’s Day.  This will be hosted in my new studio (which is going up nicely I might add).  I will have new props and lots of new ideas for this year!  Also available – a hair and makeup person.  I want you to feel and look your best for your portraits.

On to NMP news… This Saturday, the 10th,  kicks off my 1st annual (well, it’s probably actually the 2nd annual that wasn’t announced the first time) Boudoir Bonanza.  In case any of you missed THIS POST announcing the Boudoir Bonanza special, I will be hosting a one-day special event this Saturday. It should be noted that this is a 21+ age group event. You will get a one hour session, touchups with a makeup artist and hair stylist, as well as a handmade 5×7 Finao album that holds 20 of your favorite images to give to your boyfriend or hubby. It will truly be a gift he will never forget or get tired of!

I should also remind everyone that will be in attendance that you should definitely bring your makeup bag with your base! We will have eye shadows and lipsticks to choose from… but bases are hard to match to your preference. If you have a set of fake eyelashes…. bring ‘em! :) You should also come slightly made up and we can do the finalizing touches!

What’s that you ask? Valentine’s Day!

After a very successful year last year, I’ve decided to offer a Boudoir Package Special. On Saturday, January 10, 2009, I will be offering 1 hour sessions for $175. This will include the one hour session with special props and decor. It will also include a 5×7 handmade red leather album (very fancy) to include 20 of your favorite photographs from your session. Trust me from experience… it will be all he ever wanted! In addition to this… I will also have a makeup artist and hair stylist on hand to make you feel even MORE wonderful during the hour dedicated to you! Spaces are limited…. Book now as appointments are on a first come, first served basis!

What is Boudoir Portraiture? Boudoir and glamour photography refers to a range of looks or styles of photography that can be variously described as romantic, soft, sensual, glamorous, and suggestive. Boudoir (French for bedroom) refers to images that have themes of romance, sensuality, and flirtation. It is not necessarily to be nude or revealing in boudoir photography. It has more to do with an attitude or state of mind than the state of dress or undress. Since the usual purpose of boudoir photography is to make a very special and unique gift to a loved one, the primary ideas conveyed in boudoir photography are love, affection, romance, and giving.

What do I wear? What you want to convey in your boudoir portraits will largely dictate what you will wear and how you will dress. During the portrait session, you may wear one or more different outfits. Here is a list of examples you might consider:

A mini skirt
his uniform
your uniform
stockings
silk boxer shorts
items from a pastime you both share
lingerie
an off the shoulder top
an open front blouse
something transparent
thongs or tee backs
a Halloween outfit
colorful panties and bra
his favorite team jersey
anything fishnet
western hat and boots

tools of his trade
a silk sheet
his construction tools and belt
a large bath towel
a body stocking
little black dress
hats and gloves
tight shorts
a torn t-shirt
leather
anything sports paraphernalia
romantic symbol (wine, flowers, etc.)

large jewelry pieces
his favorite shirt
jockey underwear for ladies
something funny
your honeymoon outfit

The goal in selecting what to wear is to convey a sense of romance, sensuality, playfulness, love, and affection.
